We're looking for a Commercial Analyst to help drive data-based decision-making. This is a new role within our Commercial team, supporting the Buyers in ensuring our range planning and merchandising is razor sharp and we meet our targets. You will achieve this by assessing data, exploring trends, and market intelligence too then proactively turn these into profitable or efficient changes for the business.
This role will require mastery of multiple BI systems in addition to the standard spreadsheets and analytics tools. A robust understanding of the fundamentals of retail would be beneficial but more importantly, amazing communication skills will be needed. Articulating insights derived from data in an accessible and useful way is key to success in this role.

A day in the life of...

Process map and streamline the data points across the commercial aspects of the business

Ensure the collation and synthesis of trading data and contextualise with market trends and competitor analysis

Create and maintain credible dashboards to be used by senior management and commercial team

Articulate and share the insights and forecasts to help inform range planning and merchandising

Collaborate with the Buying Manager, to understand the scope of new propositions/ideas.

Support the quality and supply chain teams with insights and reporting

Produce manufacturing partner performance reports based on key metrics

Modelling the impact of changes to pricing strategies and promotional campaigns
-
Become the 'champion' of commercial data across the business

Support the Buying team in decision-making on all aspects of pricing, margin growth and erosion, space and range planning and merchandising

Accountable for the integrity of the data used in commercial decision making

Working closely with the IT and Finance teams to ensure timely delivery of reporting

Work closely with the Marketing, Digital and Customer Insights team to contextualise data

Support business performance reporting at all levels of the business
In an ideal world...

Extensive experience as a Commercial Analyst - retail background preferred
-
Bachelor's degree or postgraduate degree in business or economics
-
Experience using Power BI (?) and other ERP systems
-
Guru-level skills on Excel or Google sheets
-
Excellent commercial acumen, financial & analytic skills
-
Strong skills in PowerPoint/Slides
-
Team player and problem-solver who works well under pressure

Have a successful track record in the achievement of targets and objectives.

Results driven, structured and well organised

Strong interpersonal skills and comfortable working with autonomy and to deadlines and targets.
