Group Risk Manager

Your new role

We are now looking for an experienced Group Risk Manager, to manage a small risk team, while mentoring and coaching to support their development. 

As a Group Risk Manager you will ensure risk owners, at all levels, across the Group brands are actively involved in identifying, assessing and controlling risks

You will be responsible for the development and execution of risk assessments, setting & monitoring risk appetites, risk solutions and leading the full risk lifecycle (planning, assessing, monitoring activities, reporting and follow up) for all business functions. You’ll continually look to improve and enhance risk reporting embedding the process into business areas.

A day in the life of...

  • Perpetual auditing/verification of the risk controls

  • Support the Internal Audit team on audits linked to the company risk register and key regulatory work

  • Attend risk seminars ensuring risk knowledge is kept up to date
    provide hands-on development of risk models involving market, credit and operational risk, assure controls are operating effectively, and provide research and analytical support

  • Collaborate across different business functions to provide for an integrated and coordinated approach to risk assessment and controls

  • Develop and manage the risk management framework across all business functions

  • Design and implement MI and reporting to monitor risks and performance against risk appetite

  • Be a key point of contact for the business to support their strategies and be an active member of key meetings and forums where risk is part of the communication and delivery for the business

  • Develop relationships with key stakeholders to ensure risk remains a relevant, valued business partner by stakeholders

  • Drive ownership and understanding of the benefits of risk management across the business

  • Innovate and develop new risk approaches, utilising industry and subject knowledge and contacts

  • Expert knowledge of risk management

  • Must be able to act on own initiative, operate at a senior level and work collaboratively with key stakeholders

  • The ability to support and influence colleagues in relation to their risk responsibilities

  • Strong reporting skills

  • Ability to adapt communication style to tailor approach to suit varied stakeholder needs

  • Experience of working in a range of risk types (ideally mixture of operational and enterprise risk categories or across financial, retail,  and compliance)

  • Understanding of FCA regulatory policy and priorities (desirable)

  • Understanding the trade-off between risk and reward and being confident in providing clear, pragmatic advice to colleagues at all levels of the business

  • In-depth knowledge of processes for identifying and evaluating risk, as well as measurement, monitoring and reporting frameworks
