Payroll Manager
Your new role
This role will be predominantly home working for the forseeable, but you will have access to our Support Office based in Warrington when needed.
Your new role will be to transact and supervise a busy payroll function where you will be accountable for processing payroll for over 1000 Sofologists.
You will support two direct reports, both a Payroll Supervisor and a Payroll Apprentice. Ensuring that your colleagues are supported and developed under your leadership through regular meetings and continuous improvement sessions.
You will ensure that all payroll and administration tasks are completed at the set deadlines. You will also manage the processing of starters and leavers, calculating SSP, SMP, SPP, tax, national Insurance, RTI, pensions and resolving payroll queries. We're looking for someone who has an agile approach to prioritising workloads to meet the demands of the business.

Manage and co-ordinate activities of payroll team

Supporting the wider People Team with projects and initiatives

Continuously looking at ways of improving the service and efficiencies within the payroll team

Manage payroll workload to meet operational requirements

Ensure payroll is processed in an accurate, compliant and timely manner

Direct the preparation of payroll related documents

Administer benefit plans

Oversee compliance with statutory reporting and filing requirements

Prepare relevant monthly and year-end reports

Monitor the accurate processing of colleague appointments, transfers, promotions and terminations

Prepare and review payroll account reconciliations

Review and improve payroll policies and procedures

Keeping up to date with legislation changes and cascading this to your team

Payroll audits
In an ideal world...
- 2 Years experience in a similar role
- Management experience or working towards
- A leadership mindset with great people skills
- Experience working on projects
- Experience of implementing payroll systems would be an advantage
